ABOUT  KIND

KIND is a lifestyle magazine for 15-30 year olds featuring trendsetters, as well as up-and-coming personalities based in Lincoln who model kindness in their work; what is kindness to themselves, to others and to the world. All content created is published on the KIND Magazine website and much of it is shared via social media outlets such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages.

A recent article published by Forbes Magazine states that millennials tend to strongly prefer brands with demonstration of corporate social responsibility - the continual engagement to giving back to the community, investing to an important issue. At KIND, we strongly embody these values as it is our way to build trust with our audiences; that we truly practice what we preach.

Through showcasing local leaders, KIND operates as a vital connecting point between Lincoln creatives, and the broader community, encouraging values of: cooperation, collaboration, and support. The magazine emerges as an innovative platform for an exchange of creativity and gains uniqueness as a print as well as online magazine. Our magazine operates as more than simply an aesthetically pleasing advertisement for local creatives, instead it uses the courageous work of these individuals and presents them as catalysts for change.

We want our readers to know that these are REAL people in their community, doing REAL work, and who need their REAL support. Our operation of kindness then moves away from a cliché collection of writing and art on the internet, into a social movement happening right here in the silicon prairie.

As a local news source, KIND Magazine supplies the area with relevant and current information, strictly on lifestyle. Notably, something that has not yet been done in Lincoln, or executed well in the greater Nebraska area. The sole news outlets currently are local papers and television stations. While these do carry a necessary function, in today’s political climate, they are far too often focused on only politics or crime (or the weather). Yet, the news to be heard is much more than that.

As we have begun this journey creating the magazine, we realize the need for creative dialogue to occur and for the necessity of highlighting current positive community change as a way to counteract the rather depressing headlines. In short, while the news reports an increase in congressional gridlock, KIND would rather explore themes of kindness between entrepreneurs working together to reach a common goal. Personnel changes or additions, information on new businesses, columns written by prominent content creators, profiles on important people in our community and features on subjects relevant to our community today are just some of the areas covered in KIND Magazine.
